Private bike sales move fast — paper should too
Motorcycle deals often close in a parking lot the same day the listing goes up. Fill this out on your phone, and both parties can sign a clean, complete document that records the VIN, mileage, price, and the as-is terms everyone verbally agreed to.
What to double-check before signing
Match the VIN on the frame to the VIN on the title and on this document. Record actual mileage — the odometer disclosure protects the seller if a dispute surfaces later. And write the true sale price; understating it to dodge sales tax can void the document's usefulness and cause trouble at registration.
Titles, notaries, and the DMV
Most states transfer motorcycles like any motor vehicle: signed title plus a bill of sale. A handful want notarization. Verify with your state DMV, and use the notary toggle if required.
